Geography of Crude Oil & Gas Production

The main volumes of exploration work are carried out in the Russian Federation in the licensed territories of Tatarstan, as well as in the Republic of Kalmykia, Orenburg, Samara, Ulyanovsk region, and the Nenets Autonomous District. (PJSC TATNEFT has acquired the rights to the exploration and development of oil, gas and condensate fields as a result of participation in the auctions as well as through the partial purchase of the oil companies’ business).

As of January 01, 2016, there are 8 oil subsidiary and affiliated companies of PJSC TATNEFT operating outside the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation:

  • OOO  "Abdulinskneftegaz"
  • OOO "Tatneft-Severny"
  • CJSC "KalmTatneft"
  • JSC "Kalmneftegaz"
  • CJSC "Severgaznefteprom"
  • CJSC "Severgeologiya"
  • CJSC "Yambuloil".

The mentioned companies possess licenses for   geological study, exploration and production of hydrocarbons in 29 licensed areas (including 13 of NE series, 11 of NR Series and 5 of NP Series).

There were production operations carried out in 24 oil fields in 2015, including the start of trial production in 2 fields (Severo-Khaiyanskoye, Podveryuskoye) in the Nenets Autonomous District. Today, crude oil production is carried out from 122 wells, including 118 wells in the Samara region and 4 wells in the Orenburg region in the Russian Federation.

There was a large amount of work performed in 2015 on drilling and completion of new wells in the Samara region. Deep well drilling was started on one structure and three other structures had been prepared for deep drilling. Four new wells were put into operation. The average production rate of new wells amounted to 14.4 tonnes per day.

As of January 01, 2016, PJSC TATNEFT had production sharing contracts signed for operations in Libya and Syria, as well as a service rendering contract in Turkmenistan with regard to EOR application and crude oil production.

Due to the political situation in the territory of the PJSC TATNEFT’s contract areas in Libya and Syria, the execution of exploration work programs was suspended. The plans for 2016 provided for continuation of monitoring the situation development in these countries with a view to resuming work after the stabilization of the situation and obtaining security guarantees for the personnel working in the fields.

The contract between PJSC TATNEFT and SC "Turkmenoil” was signed on July 30, 2010.

Since the beginning of the production program execution in accordance with the terms of the contract, crude oil production amounted to 160.4 thousand tonnes. Two workover crews in total carried out 63 workover operations in 40 wells, mainly from the stock of idle wells and those waiting for the physical liquidation.  Running of downhole pumping equipment was completed in 32 wells and 26 wells were put in operation providing for additional daily production in the amount of up to 104 t per day.

All wells were equipped and automated by the PJSC TATNEFT’s branch in Turkmenistan. Works were completed on the arrangement of remote and dispatch control with real time information transfer to the control room. The periodically operated reservoir pressure maintenance system site consisting of a 2 injection wells and 2 cellars at 5 producing wells were put into operation.

Oil and Gas Production outside Tatarstan

Outside the Republic of Tatarstan PJSC TATNEFT has prospecting licenses for exploration and field development of oil, gas and condensate in the Samara and Orenburg regions, Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Republic of Kalmykia. In these regions, 21oil fields were in operation in 2013. Oil is produced from 104 wells, including 98 wells in the Samara region and 6 wells in the Orenburg region.

In the Samara region the previously drilled stock was equipped for production and new wells were drilled. 18 new wells were brought into production. The average daily production rate of new drilled wells amounted to 8 tons/day.

Oil and Gas Production outside the Russian Federation

In 2010, PJSC TATNEFT and State Company "Turkmenneft" signed the service contract for enhanced oil recovery and crude oil production in Goturdepe oil field in Turkmenistan. The work schedule of the contract execution was developed and approved. The anticipated incremental oil production for the whole contract period is 321 thousand tons. Currently, the registration certificate of the PJSC TATNEFT Branch in Turkmenistan has been received. Work has been started on possible expansion of the PJSC TATNEFT’s contract in Turkmenistan.

Performance of exploration programs at the license blocks of PJSC TATNEFT in Syria were suspended due to the political situation. In February 2013, a decision was taken on termination of the force majeure period for fulfillment of contractual obligations in Libya. Work was carried out during 2013 for resumption of the PJSC TATNEFT's activities in Libya.
