A decrease of specific energy consumption of the gross regional product has been observed in the Republic in recent years, which is largely the result of the region’s leadership policy aimed at optimizing and rationalizing the industrial processes through introduction of energy efficient technologies and usage of renewable resources.
PJSC TATNEFT attaches great importance to the resource saving issue. In 2011 the Company launched the "Energy Efficient Economy Program" for the period up to 2020 aimed at reducing the consumption of fuel and energy resources (FER) in the entire process chain of oil crude production. The program consistently continues the acting earlier PJSC TATNEFT’s energy saving program for 2000-2010 essentially expanding the program coverage.
The new program covers not only energy, but also the natural and material resources. Its main objective is to ensure absolute reduction of fuel consumption by at least 7.4% in the first stage (2015) and by 13.5% in the second stage (by 2020) versus the consumption in 2007. The secondary objectives are to provide energy of own generation by 2020 up to 4.5% of the total electricity consumption and ensure partial compensation for rising costs due to the increase in energy tariffs and other factors. Compensatory measures are provided at the expense of reducing the absolute consumption of energy resources, reducing other operating costs, as well as developing the Company’s own-production of energy.
The program is based on a phased plan of activities to ensure the rational, economically sound use of resources. The priority is given to the measures for the introduction of new innovative technologies in the field of energy conservation, including alternative electric energy sources.
The Energy Efficient Economy program of PJSC TATNEFT for the period up to 2020 corresponds to the requirements of federal law No. 261-FZ of November 23, 2009 "On energy saving and energy efficiency and on introducing amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation", as well as to the draft of the State Program for energy saving and energy efficiency improvement.
